AA Surrogacy Agency
The IVF & Egg Donation Process: Building Your Family Through Advanced Technology
Introduction
For many intended parents, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and/or egg donation are essential components of their surrogacy journey. At AA Surrogacy Agency, we understand the complexities of these procedures and are committed to providing clear, comprehensive guidance. This page outlines the steps involved in the IVF and egg donation process, as it integrates with your surrogacy plan.
IVF Process Overview
Once an egg donor is selected, the IVF process begins. Here’s an overview of the steps involved:
1. Ovarian Stimulation and Egg Retrieval:
The egg donor undergoes hormone treatments to stimulate egg production. Once the eggs are mature, they are retrieved in a minor surgical procedure.
2. Ovarian Stimulation
(if applicable)
- If using the intended mother's own eggs, medication is used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
- Regular monitoring is conducted to track egg development.
3. Egg Retrieval
A minimally invasive procedure to retrieve mature eggs from the ovaries.
4. Fertilization
- The retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm in a laboratory setting.
- This can involve traditional insemination or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
5. Embryo Development
The fertilized eggs (embryos) are monitored for several days to assess their development.
6. Embryo Transfer
- A selected embryo is transferred to the surrogate's uterus.
- Any remaining viable embryos can be cryopreserved.
7. Pregnancy Confirmation
A blood test is performed to confirm pregnancy.
Egg Donation Process Overview
1. Donor Selection
- Intended parents select an egg donor from a reputable agency or database.
- Detailed donor profiles are provided, including medical history and personal information.
2. Donor Screening
The chosen donor undergoes rigorous medical and psychological screening.
3. Donor Synchronization
The donor’s menstrual cycle is synchronized with the intended parent(s) or surrogate’s cycle (if applicable).
4. Ovarian Stimulation and Egg Retrieval
The donor undergoes ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval, similar to the IVF process.
5. Fertilization and Embryo Development
The retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm, and the embryos are monitored.
6. Embryo Transfer
A selected embryo is transferred into the surrogates uterus.
